Vehicle reconditioning is a process that Thompson Lexus Willow Grove has standardized within our pre-owned vehicle inventory. Whenever our team receives a pre-owned vehicle, it undergoes our extensive reconditioning process to make sure that it is mechanically and cosmetically sound for the next owner. The process involves a thorough mechanical inspection and full interior and exterior detail. A reconditioned vehicle from Thompson isn't just someone else’s hand-me-down, it's a vehicle that has been brought back to “like-new” condition so the next owner can drive confidently off our lot.
What is the difference between a reconditioned vehicle, and a vehicle that has been detailed? The most notable difference is that a reconditioned vehicle has gone through a mechanical inspection where repairs have been made, fluids have been checked and changed if needed, and it passes a state inspection. A detailed vehicle, on the other hand, has only been thoroughly cleaned, without any repairs made.
Thompson Lexus Doylestown follows a three-phase reconditioning process that covers every inch of the vehicle.
When we get a pre-owned vehicle at Thompson Lexus Doylestown, the first thing that happens is a basic walk-around inspection where our Pre-Owned Sales Manager looks for any visible damage, both on the interior and the exterior. Anything the manager finds is passed along to our service team, where the real work begins.
Once the vehicle is handed off to our service center, one of our Lexus Certified Technicians will comb through the vehicle and repair or replace anything that doesn't meet our Thompson standards. Once all repairs have been made, our technicians will perform a final inspection and oil change before sending it off to Thompson Detail Center for its final makeover.
The team at Thompson Detail Center takes our repaired pre-owned vehicle and performs a full interior and exterior detail, bringing back its once new shine. But the team doesn't stop there. They’ll also include any bumper repair, paint correction, leather refinishing, or wheel refinishing. Once the vehicle is fully detailed and looking shiny and new again, it’s back to the dealership for a final inspection before being parked on our lot and made available to customers.
